Social networking site Twitter has been busy with the Ghanaian community for the past hours after celebrated Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson reactivated her online activism against the unending power crisis Ghanaians have been faced with for months and continue to face.
Popularly referred to as #Dumsor (the local street term for the frequent power outages the country has been plunged into), Yvonne Nelson’s #Dumsormuststop campaign got lots of suffering Ghanaians calling on the authorities to attend to the unbearable condition since it has led to the laying off of thousands of workers, companies folding up brutal murders during power outages and other unbearable economic hardships.
In a clarion call by Yvonne Nelson on some Ghanaian actors and actresses (Lydia Forson, Prince David Osei, Joselyn Dumas, Majid Michel, Anita Erskin) to join the campaign, a rather sarcastic tweet from www.nydjlive.com to cool down the heat which the campaign had gathered however seemed to have angered the actress.
Asked why she did not call on John Dumelo (who had earlier called on Ghanaians to be patient with the government since Rome was not built in a day) to join in the campaign, the actress described the colleague actor and close friend as someone who “loves to kiss *ss” hence his exemption from the call.
In a response to our tweet, the actress said, “How can I invite John Dumelo when he wants to wait till he’s 90 to see electricity! He loves to kiss *ss #dumsormuststop”
We are yet to identify whose *ass John Dumelo could be kissing either than the government of the day and we are however surprised at Yvonne’s comment as well since the two are really close friends and have been rumoured on several occasions to be in an amorous relationship.
Well, this is how far #Dumsor can affect relationships.
