Tyler Perry Defends Casting All White Actors on ‘Too Close to Home’

Often, I have argued that people of colour are the worst of racists yet we seem to cry foul of every damn thing. Yes, it’s admissible that we have had to deal with a lot and still do it but I don’t know why we believe everything should and must be in our favour.

If a person of colour achieves higher heights, we are extremely satisfied and jubilant perhaps because the resources available to us is not equal to that of white. (partially true)

Why this long introduction?

Tyler Perry has been under immense criticism from the Black community simply because he did an all white cast for his latest production.

Well, the actor did a turn around for an all white cast which didn’t settle well with fans and followers who expressed their dissatisfaction at the new move.

However, the actor known for his role as Madea has responded to the critics of his new series “Too Close to Home”.

He told The Associated Press, “That’s totally reverse racism, because it was coming from African-American people.”

“I don’t know if it was because they thought I should only be giving jobs to black people. Well, I think that’s ridiculous. If you look at the hundreds of black people I’ve given jobs to and even the ones I’ve made millionaires, people of color, I just think it’s unfair,” he continued.

“I’m just finding out more as I travel the country and world, the more I meet people, we’re all the same,” he explained. “We all got the same dramas. So I’m not seeing color as much as I did anymore in the sense of our stories. Our stories are so similar.”
