Tyba Poetry in collaboration with Worldreader (Non Profit Organization) is set to embark on a literacy campaign dubbed Trotro Vibes.
The aim of the campaign is to educate and inform Ghanaians about vital social issues that pertains to human interest and also instigate the habit of reading in them.
In order to carry out this project, Tyba Poetry intends to get on board Trotros (public bus transport) which is the basic means of transportation in Ghana and will in the form of poetry and music educate passengers about social issues.
The group will also provide various passengers with access to digital library right on their phones where they can do a lot of reading. Tyba Poetry led by Koo Kumi, will provide poems with Nana Yirenkyi with acoustic guitarists rotating.
Explaining the choice of trotro in executing this initiative, Tyba Poetry explained saying, ” We choose to use Trotro because it’s a basic means of transport and it will aid us in reaching a larger and different kind of audiences.”
This initiative is expected to take place every month. The first edition of Trotro Vibes is slated for Friday, 29th January, 2016 and holds in Accra. The routes to be used are:
