Discussions with the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohunu for approval of an intended vigil for the ongoing social media activism #Dumsormuststop has ended, www.nydjlive.com is reliably informed.
Information gathered indicates the Greater Accra Regional Police command has approved of the requested date and the routes for the vigil which is being spearheaded by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson with support from other celebrities including BET award winner Sarkodie and many others.
Ealier this week, lawyers for actress Yvonne Nelson and musician Sarkodie jointly wrote a letter to the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander requesting for permission for a ‘peaceful vigil’ on May 16, 2015.
The vigil is expected to bring together a lot of celebrities and other Ghanaians who have relented on showing their frustration over the poor power supply.
Participants are expected to gather at the University of Ghana football field on May 16 and proceed peacefully to the Green park opposite the Villagio at the Tettey Quashie Interchange.
Yvonne Nelson who later confirmed the news stated saying, “meeting with the Regional Police Commander done, join us on the 16th! A peaceful and calm vigil. Our voices need to be heard.”
