South African hip hop artist Caspper Nyovest has explained the reasons behind his decision not to submit his works for this years edition of the South African Music Awards popularly referred to as the SAMA’s.
Contrary to an opinion shared on Facebook that the musician feared he would win nothing at this year’s SAMA’s, Cassper Nyovest who has been out of South Africa for a minute explained he did not submit his works because he doesn’t rate the awards anymore and that he’s good without them.
The musician who has been sharing experiences of his recent catch ups with world renowned emcees Quest Love and Black Thought stated:
“I didn’t submit cause I don’t rate the Samas. I don’t want to win a Sama anymore. I’m good without them.“
Nominees for the 2016 South Africa Music Awards were released on Thursday April 21 2016 released via a live stream with Cassper Nyovest securing only two nominations. These nominations were for songs he featured in.
Caspper in October 2015 made record as a South African artist to sell out a 20,000 capacity seat stadium with his Fill The Dome Concert. He also took advantage of the success of the concert to launch his album Refiloe.
