Multi award winning Afro dancehall Ghanaian artist and leader of the BHIM Nation, Stonebwoy Burnition believes the rising dominance and interest in the Ghana’s music over Nigerian music on the global scale is as a result of God’s blessing.

Speaking in a special hangout session with host of Destination Africa, DJ Edu on BBC 1 Xtra, the problem hit maker shed light on why he thinks Ghana’s music is gradually becoming the toast of the globe.

This, came about after the Afroboss asked what he thought had led to the recent rise of steady rise and domination of Ghanaian music over Nigerian music on the international stage.

“There’s something special about Ghanaian music right now and there’s a whole buzz around it. I know Naija had their time. It’s not making a lot of noise but it’s having heavy impact.

You know when you go into the ring with a boxer and they hit you and they got you like wow and you feeling it..That’s what I feel Ghanaian music is doing now cos most of the Ghanaian kids are the ones getting signed….There’s something about Ghana, what do you think it is ?”, DJ Edu asked.

In a quick response, Stonebwoy said,

“I say this every time that I know that my country is blessed. My country has that favour that’s for sure, No matter the instability, politically, no matter the economic whatsoever. No matter what’s going on, I know my country is blessed. You know, Ghana is blessed. We’ve been some of the people to even grow this Afrobeats thing”

He went ahead to pay homage to legendary Ghanaian musicians who paved the way for the younger generation.

“I can say shouts to legends like E.T Mensah, Paa Thomas, Osibisa, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Afro Moses. They all grew this high life genre and although they called it different names, I think we are the new school of that which took over the world.”

Stonebwoy has been working tirelessly for the past years and hopes to make it to the shortlist of the nominations for the Best Reggae album at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Watch Stonebwoy perform to over 30,000 fans at his own organized BHIM Nation for peace concert in Accra, Ghana.
