A musical concert aimed at celebrating this year’s Salah festival in the Asawase Community Center in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region has led to the death of 9 people.
According to an eyewitness who narrates events on the grounds to www.nydjlive.com, the concert which had already started on a good note suddenly turned chaotic around 2am Thursday dawn after the show headliner, Fancy Gadam announced during his performance that ‘thugs’ from his enemy had entered the event grounds.
According to our witness, the utterance caused fear among the crowd who tried to escape from any possible occurrence causing a stampede.
It must be stated that the community center was full to capacity with a number of people hovering around the venue.
According to a quick check by www.nydjlive.com, the Asawase Community Center which caters for only 200 people had close to 500 people in the auditorium.
An attempt to reach either the management of Fancy Gadam or himself has proved futile as none would answer our calls.
It is unknown which “enemy” Fancy Gadam referred to but it is known that the musician who has a large following in the North has not been on good terms with Macassio, another huge musician in the Northern part of Ghana.
The unhealthy rivalry between the two artists recently led to a bloody clash among their fans which led to four persons seriously injured and several items damaged.
The two feuding artistes have been battling each other over supremacy and who have enough fan base within the entertainment industry in the region.
