The Garden City of the Ashanti Region, Kumasi is already bubbling with excitement as it awaits the premiere of the biggest selling Ghanaian movie of 2016, Amakye and Dede.
The movie which premieres at the Miklin Hotel on Saturday May 14 2016 is expected to see a high turn out just as witnessed in Accra and Takoradi.
Securing the top spot as the record breaking movie with the highest number of turn out for a movie premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra, Amakye and Dede seems to be on top of Ghana’s Box Office.
Since it’s release, the movie which stars Majid Michel, Kalybos, Ahuofe Patricia, John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah, Salma Mumin, Emelia Brobbey, Moesha Buduonh, Grace Nortey, Fred Nuamah and many others has had the best positive reviews by critics and viewers ever since the movie premiere culture started in Ghana.
Described as a ‘rib cracking romantic wahala’, Amakye and Dede is a tale of two best friends who fall in love with the same girl.
Speaking to Kofi Asamoah, producer of the movie, the team chose Kumasi as part of the premiere destinations because the city has always been a cradle for movie production and it was only right to extend the excitement the movie brings to Oseikrom.
The movie will have two showings with the first showing at 6PM and the second show starting at 8PM. Tickets are fast selling at GHC30 at Opoku Trading and Hello FM, all in Kumasi.
