Ghanaian Gospel musicians would have no option than to contend with other artists for this year’s album of the year category at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards since organizers have announced there would be no such category as “Gospel Album of the Year”.

This, according to Charter House is premised on the fact that a few gospel albums were submitted and those that were submitted did not have the minimum requirements of three hit songs.

The Board, therefore, noted that the few gospel albums submitted will now compete with other genres.

In a press conference held on Tuesday February 23 2016 at the World Trade Centre in Accra, Theresa Ayoade, CEO of Charter House also announced that Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah also known as Shatta Wale would not be nominated for this year’s awards for publicly maligning the board and the awards scheme.

The main Awards Night is scheduled for May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
