Adele’s latest single, “Hello,” has just gone Platinum. She’s likely to see off all competition. But there’s nothing like a good battle to set the charts alive. Elvis Presley is also still a force to be reckoned with, and don’t forget the Justin Bieber versus One Direction rivalry.

The U.K. Official Charts, released today, say it all. Adele’s “Hello” remains the top single for a third week, while Elvis is still the King of albums.

Presley’s popularity even seems to be growing again. His collection If I Can Dream, which mixes classic hit vocals with backing from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, exceeded its first-week tally to achieve more than 88,600 sales on the combined charts. This gives the late star the second biggest weekly sale of any top-placed album in 2015, just behind Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Elvis now has the most U.K. Number 1 albums of any solo artist, with 12 chart-toppers to his name. He managed to see off strong competition this week from Little Mix, Ellie Goulding and Rod Stewart. The reissue of 1, the chart-topping album by the Beatles, is in fifth place.

Adele’s single continues to sell well worldwide, which is good news for her third studio album 25, out on November 20.

Adele’s “Hello” is certified Platinum  by the BPI now. It was this week’s most-streamed track, with 4.7 million listens, while Bieber’s “Sorry” wasn’t too far behind, scoring 4.51 million plays.

It may soon be overtaken by Bieber’s latest, “I’ll Show You,” while One Direction also returns to the singles chart with “History.”

While record industry insiders note One Direction’s intention to take a break in 2016 – and Bieber’s desire for a long career – we’ll have to see how the sales shape up, with fans of the Canadian star saying there is no contest. Both acts release albums today.
