What You Never Knew About My Supposed ‘Marriage’ in Mauritius

I’m sure you might have read or seen somewhere online that I moved all the way from Ghana to the beautiful island of Mauritius to tie the knot or propose to a lady. Well, that would not have been a bad thing to do considering the peace, serenity and beauty of a place that served as my home for one week kindest courtesy Multi Choice Africa but before you send me another congratulatory message, please take time and read what really happened.

Some few weeks ago, I was privileged to join a selected number of journalists from Ghana to attend a one week Multi Choice Africa Content Showcase held at the Outrriger Beach Mauritius Resort where we met several content providers (BBC, Zee World, MTV Base, BET, Cartoon Network, Africa Magic, Super Sports etc) who opened up to us on upcoming new content on DStv.( I’m sure you followed all the discussions with the hashtag #OnlyTheBest but in case you didn’t, it’s not too late to search for it via this same website.)

As part of round table discussions and activations with various channels, we met with A+E Network’s Lifestyle Channel where we were put into several groups for a competition. As part of the competition, each group was prepare a bride and a groom for a wedding after which each group presented two individuals (a guy and a lady) upon by a request by host I. K Osiakuoduwa.

Unknowingly, that was the beginning of my troubles. My task was to convince the lady (Olorisupergirl) from my group to accept my proposal (Something I will usually do with no one present). It was indeed a moment to be crafty and smart so my proposal was not rejected. In fact, it would have been yawa if my proposal had been turned down. ( You known I have too much vibes, lol)

Going down on one knee, stretching forth my hand to that of my potential spouse, my vibes were on point as a laser to turn the event grounds into a party. Yaaaay!! Guess her response. The answer was YES!!.

However as I had fun and my vibes put smiles on the faces of the people present, my friend and colleague Ameyaw Debrah forgot our phrase, “What happens in Mauritius remains in Mauritius” (wink).

Minutes after sharing a 15 seconds video of my awesome and emotional proposal to Olorisupergirl (colleague blogger from Nigeria), my phone started buzzing with congratulatory messages. Many wondered who the lady was as others felt disappointed (lol, potential wives).

Even after coming clear that the said proposal was just for fun purposes and nothing serious, some of my friends are yet to believe it and keep congratulating me.

Congratulatory messages

Anyway, marriage is a good thing so keep them coming but before you collapse my marriage, I did not marry in Mauritius but won”t mind going back there for my honeymoon.
