Photos: M.anifest, Kwabs, Others perform for over 110,000 people at Roskilde Festival

Ghanaian music crooner M.anifest, British-Ghanaian singer and songwriter Kwabs, Nigerian grime boy MC Afrikan Boy, African Express and many others performed in front of over 110,000 music loving fans at the Roskilde Festival held in Denmark this weekend.

According to the organisers, this year there were around 130,000 people on the site on a daily basis during the festival: 85,000 ticket holders, 30,000 volunteers plus the artists and guests.

Speaking on the experience, M.anifest disclosed it was an honour to be part of African Express,

“It makes me grow musically and it makes me also feel connected to a bigger African music scene outside my small realm, and also connect to other musicians not from Africa who are also amazing at what they do.”

Africa Express was co-founded nine years ago by British rock musician Damon Albarn as a collaborative project between musicians from Africa and the West.

Roskilde Festival, one of the biggest musical festivals in Europe was created in 1971, inspired by the hippy movement.
