Sorry Don Jazzy, Patoranking had won the VGMA even before the awards night

For many who have paid attention to the Ghana Music Awards for the past few years, you realize you needed no soothsayer to tell you who the eventual winner of the African Artist of the Year title was going to be at this year’s edition of the Ghana Music Awards as it was staring right at us in the faces.

If you have never paid attention too, I think it is time I brought this to your attention so that you can predict who the African Artist of the Year would be at next year’s event even before the awards night, lol.

If my memory serves me right, it has been quite clear for the past 4 or 5 years that whichever African artist organizers of the award (Charter House) flew down to the awards show emerged winner. (Have you thought of it?) Well, it may be a mere coincidence but lemme give you that job of cross checking. When you are done, bet on it for next year and come back to thank later me as you could make huge money from the bet. They could also change the drift as I have brought it to bare now.

It therefore looks funny to me that well respected Nigerian music business mogul and CEO of Mavins Records (which serves as home to Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’ Prince, Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello) Don Jazzy who seems lost on the reality replied a tweep who needed reasons for their absence at the Ghana Music Awards (where they were nominated) disclosed that the event organizers, Charter House could not afford to fly down to Ghana the ten member crew and described that as a ‘pity’.

That could be his idea but far from that, the winner had already been decided and there was no need flying down a 10 member team just to witness an award ceremony. (I mean for what, to beautify the place at the cost of organizers who are in for a high profit margin? Hell, NO!!)

I believe organizers would have found reason to fly the entire Mavins Crew to the event if they were of essence to event.

Did they not fly Sonnie Badu and The Composers (a 5 band crew) all the way from the UK?

This may not be the case for the organizers but I’m sure a quick retrospection will justify my assertion and I still stand shocked as to why Patoranking could win over The Mavins. My 2 cents though.
