Reacting to questions that suggested the Ghana Music Week was not nationalistic and not beneficial to the entire nation since all activities were centered in Accra with little or no participation from the other parts of the nation considering the expenses incurred, Okyeame Kwame said,

We believe that one whole week of celebrating Ghanaian music will bring a lot of attention to the Ghanaian music and therefore Ghanaian musicians will get something positive  out of a whole week of musical activities ……………… but because music is intangible, most of the things we do with music cannot be seen to soon.

Moreover , there were representatives from all over the nation which makes it national in colour. There were traditional performances from almost all regions.

Citing himself as an example and how beneficial music is in the long term, he disclosed he never expects to reap money from his albums in a week of release but after six months or more when the album begins to mature and has therefore asked Ghanaians to be patient and witness how beneficial the celebration of Ghanaian music will be in the coming months.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga) in partnership with the National Theater and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts organized the first ever Ghana Music Festival at the National Theatre and Accra Sports Stadium from March 4th to March 10th 2013.
